A Carter Lumber Human Resources Coordinator assists in carrying out various human resources tasks primarily focusing on the areas of employment, DOT compliance, and employee relations. Provides support to all divisions of the company in regard to customer and employee relations by assisting the store in the resolution of the issue. A strong belief in the mission and goals of the company are necessary to this position. 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field; Or commensurate experience
  • Strong attention to detail and multi-tasking abilities are required to succeed in this role
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems in a fast-paced environment with time constraints
  • Basic knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and policies within the HR field
  • Capacity to communicate clearly and convey information in an organized, credible and concise fashion
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Ability to gather data, compile information and prepare reports
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office is required
  • Familiarity with VICTIG or JJ Keller is a plus

Responsibilities

Employment

  • Assists the department in carrying out various human resources programs and policies in areas such as: employment screening, reviewing motor vehicle records (MVR), maintaining DOT compliance, employee communication, and additional projects as assigned.

Employee Relations

  • Distributes employment related concerns to the store, or Human Resources Manager as needed, and acts as a liaison between employees and locations, should issues arise, to ensure proper resolution.

HR Training & Development

  • Perform administrative tasks such but not limited to research, policy review, and preparing training content. 

Administration

  • Act as a backup to the coworkers in the department, in relations to new hires, answering phone calls, and addressing employee concerns.
