A Carter Lumber Commercial Multi Family Project Coordinator is responsible for reviewing all
phases of design projects from start to finish. This includes any design modifications, budget and
profitability, client relationships, and scheduling. A strong belief in the mission and goals of the company are necessary for this position.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a building materials environment
  • High level of knowledge in the application of the products being designed
  • Competency in basic mathematics, geometry, and trigonometry
  • Knowledge in architectural and structural plans
  • Ability to trouble shoot and problem solve with strong communication skills
  • Knowledge of MiTek Management and Sapphire design, BlueBeam and Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams

Responsibilities:

Communication

  • Provide daily communication to the CMF Design Manager on statuses of each project.
  • Give accurate and honest assessments of where each project stands, and the amount of time needed to complete them.
  • Communicate professionally with our internal and external customers.
  • Participate in interdepartmental communication with peers and coordinate work on projects as needed; Support peers by helping with workloads, coaching, and assisting with reviewing questions and plans.
  • Send out follow-up emails detailing action items needed to move forward after phone calls with Customers or Sales Representatives.
  • Maintain the portal relationship with contract design services, including file transfers and clarification for questions from the designers.

Plan and Design Review

  • Review a project once it’s turned into an order to ensure it includes RFI’s and information for any unanswered questions so the Designer can produce necessary designs without issue.
  • Highlight checked dimensions, details, elevations and other necessary information on the project plans and file checked documents in Management.
  • Develop, change, and follow the current Tier checking list for review of all submittals and/or production work.
  • Communicate with the Designer and document all discrepancies found while using a digital corrections list and via comments in MiTek Structure; Document items discussed and solutions planned regarding discrepancies and file in Management.

Repair Responsibilities

  • Review all repair and rebuild requests from the manufacturing locations in tandem with CMF Design Manager before sending to the Designer.
  • Assist the CMF Design Manager in effectively communicating with the manufacturing location staff and sales staff in the best steps to solve the current issue and prevent future issues.
  • Maintain the design error log for the CMF design team to stay involved with all mistakes that make it to the field; Track common trends in design errors and incorporate changes to the current Tier checking list to catch future mistakes.
