Sales Specialist/Stocker

A Holmes Lumber ( division of Carter Lumber) Sales Specialist/Stocker is responsible for selling and providing professional customer service to contractors and do-it-yourselfers.  This is accomplished by assisting customers making purchase decisions, efficiently processing sales transactions by using the cash register and Point Of Sale and ensuring the customer has everything needed to complete a project.  Handling sales transactions, merchandising, inventory control and communication are all components of this position.  A strong belief in the mission and goals of the company are necessary to this position.

Requirements to be Considered for the Position:

  • Previous experience in a customer service environment
  • Friendly, outgoing personality
  • Ability to effectively communicate with others
  • Familiarity with building materials is helpful
  • Ability to participate effectively as a team member
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays

Responsibilities of the Position:

Sales & Relationship Building:

  • Meets and greets customers
  • Completes sales transactions 
  • Provides customers with literature and information 
  • Develops relationships 
  • Follows up on sales calls
  • Handles complaints and returns 
  • Provides customer service

Store Operations:

  • Follows store policies and procedures
  • Orders, receives and stocks items 
  • Maintains showroom 
  • Suggests processes to improve operational efficiencies
  • Communicates with others
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge & Training:

  • Identifies personal growth needs and limprovement opportunities
  • Seeks to obtain product information
  • Learns about building packages and products 
  • Completes required training and development courses
