Benefits & Insurance Clerk

Carter Lumber Benefits/Insurance Clerks are responsible for processing enrollment on various benefits programs and manages all paperwork for general liability claims.  The ability to handle sensitive materials while maintaining confidentially is a key function of this position.  A working knowledge of company benefits, policies and procedures is necessary.  A strong belief in the mission and goals of the company are necessary to this position.

Requirements:

  • Possess a strong work ethic and the ability to work under time constraints
  • Ability to gather data, compile information and prepare reports
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to analyze and provide recommendations to solve problems
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook 
  • Knowledge of ACA reporting, experience in ADP (Payforce) Benefits Module

Responsibilities:

Benefits/Insurance Administration                                                                                              

  • Handles employee communication, enrollment and administration on various employee benefits programs such as; group health insurance, life, dental, disability and 401(k).  This includes acting as a liaison between our providers and employees regarding enrollment, claims and general benefits questions.  Acts as back-up to the Benefits Manager.

General Liability                                                                                                            

  • Responsible for the processing and communication of all claims paperwork while keeping the Benefits Manager updated on issues that arise. Maintains the general liability claims database. .
